Whether you are throwing a party of trying to keep your kids busy on a rainy day, dying t-shirts are a great way to keep them occupied. Picking out their favorite colors and designs is half the fun. The other half is getting drenched in dye and going crazy! Making a tie dye shirt might seem intimidating, but if you follow these 4 easy steps it’ll be something that you can do with your kids for any occasion.
What you’ll need to get started
- Colored dye
- white t-shirt
- rubber bands
Step 1
Before you start tie dyeing, make sure to wash your fabric item to remove the sizing. Then grab your damp fabric directly from the washer and prep it for dyeing.
Step 2
Twist and fold your t-shirt with the rubber bands to create your chosen design
Step 3
Spray dye into different areas of your t-shirt. You might need to rotate or fully dip some sections of your shirt.
Step 4
Keep your t-shirt damp by sealing it in a ziplock bag. Let it sit for 8 hours and then take it out. Your tie dye -shirt will be complete!
